Shockwave Therapy

Specialty Treatments in Chiropractic Care

Shockwave Therapy performed on chiropractic patient

Our machine is an Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) device that uses focused, non-invasive acoustic waves to treat musculoskeletal conditions by stimulating the body’s natural healing processes.

It works by breaking down scar tissue, improving blood flow, and triggering cellular regeneration, offering solutions for chronic pain and various injuries like tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and tendinitis. The system uses piezoelectric technology for precise, well-defined focused treatment and allows for adjustable penetration depths and pulse frequencies.

How Shockwave Therapy Works

Acoustic Waves:

The Piezowave 2 generates high-energy acoustic (sound) waves that are precisely focused to reach deep within tissues.

Mechanotransduction:

These mechanical energy pulses trigger a process called mechanotransduction, converting the physical energy into biochemical signals within the target tissue.

Tissue Regeneration:

This mechanical stimuli affects cellular growth and differentiation, cell migration and protein synthesis.  It stimulates molecular events that promote tissue repair, regeneration, and increased blood flow, which are key components of the healing process.

Myofascial Compression Therapy (MyACT):

A specific application of the Piezowave technology, this method uses the focused sound waves for a deep, precise tissue massage to relieve pain.

The Piezowave 2 is used to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Chronic pain from injuries or overuse
  • Tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow
  • Calcified shoulder conditions
  • Trigger points
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tendinitis and bursitis
